Submarine is done

Whoohoo!! The main body of the sub is now done. As you can see, I still have the portholes to fill in and of course the animals that are swimming around it. And, I also need to do the propeller at the back, but the main body itself is now stitched. I started on the water yesterday. I think in about a week or so, I will take a break from the sub and work on the third Joan Elliott geisha girl. I would like to finish that one up this year too in order to complete the set. I am inspired again as I got a new book about geisha’s from Hazel and DH bought for me a new geisha poster. I’m surrounded by them. :)

But meanwhile, here is my latest sub pic:

More subbing

So far, I’ve been good in my promise to keep the sub as my focus piece. I’ve gotten in several more hours of stitching on it and have a new pic. [pic removed 4/26/04 for new pic]

I went subbing this weekend!

And finally got some stitching done! In addition to working on some of my coursework, I did feel focused enough to actually stitch this weekend. I stitched a little bit on TW’s Woodland Fairie (which I don’t have an updated picture of.. maybe next week after I make some more progress.) However, I spent most of my time working on Noah’s Submarine. As I was stitching it, I decided that this will be the piece that I stitch for my unborn child yet, so as of now, it is my main focus piece. The coloring is slightly off, but here is my progress [removed 4/18/04 for updated pic]

And this is where it was before. As you can see, I worked mostly on filling in the sub between two of the portholes. I have decided that 2004 will be the year of Noah’s Ark as this will be the theme for the baby. So, I’m on a hunt for NA patterns. :)

In older stitching news, last month, I started another design that I haven’t worked on since, but I finally put a scan up. It is Day by Maria Van Scharrenburg.

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone that has posted and/or emailed about our news. :) I’m still not stiching any, so this will be just a very general post about life.

However, I do have some stitching news. Hazel offered to take over the virtual-stitcher site for me. She will be renaming it, but at least it will provide a way for people to share their pictures without having to worry about the technical business behind it. If you’re interested, contact her!

I have been doing more reading. I never posted, but I finished Geisha: A Life about a month ago. I really enjoyed it an unlike Memoirs of a Geisha, this one is an actual autobiography. It says in the book that she was the inspiration for Memoirs of a Geisha. And, Hazel is sending me another geisha book she has recenlty read. Therefore, if I’m not stitching a geisha, at least I can read about them right?

Then, I next read Executive Privilege by Jay Brandon. This is a book that Kalonji got for me and is similar in style to John Grisham. Except, IMHO, Brandon is a more clever writer. This was a very entertaining book and I think it would make good material for a movie one day. So, I started another one of his books yesterday – this one is called Local Rules.

So still, no stitching, but I am feeling more caught up with life. I’m making progress on getting all my coursework done, and work isn’t feeling as overwhelming these days. I hope to actually get some stitching in this weekend, not a lot, but maybe a few hours worth. And, I also have some scans to make of the last time I stitched that I never put up, so at the least, I’ll do that.

And pregnancy wise all is well. I feel perfectly fine excpet for the fatigue and I have my first appt with the Vanderbilt midwives on the 19th.
