My Brother is having a baby!

And in more baby news, my brother’s girlfriend is now in labor! They are on their way to the hospital now. They live in Virginia. This is her first child, his second and yes, it is a boy. :-) her due date was the same as mine (Oct 5th), so it looks like they beat me to the punch!

My coworker had her baby girl – 8lbs, 11 oz and is recovering in the hospital today. I can’t wait to see her.

Will post updates as warranted…

My Coworker is in labor!

I don’t think I’ve posted this before, but one of my coworkers is also pregnant. Her due date was Friday and we live literally right next to each other (in the same apt complex, bldgs are adjacent). So, I was running late for work this morning as I had to take Isis to the vet. As I called my boss to tell her I’d be late, she asked me if I had talked to my coworker (we will call her M). So, I went over to check on M and she was sure enough having contractions – they were about 7 minutes apart or so, but she was not yet ready to go to the hospital. I told her to call me when she headed there and about 2pm CST she called and was on her way. I have not heard back from her yet (it’s almost 5pm now) but who knows… baby could be here, but it is certainly on the way soon if not yet!

I’m really excited for her b/c we’ve been able to go through our pregnancies together. It’s nice that we live next to each other, so I think we’ll be helping each other out a lot now. Maybe I’ll get to share a pic of her little girl, but I’ll have to ask her before doing that of course :-)

So, why was I taking Isis to the vet? Well, I think Isis is upset about the move/baby. Last week, I came home to find she had urinated in my bed. Not pleasant! Then, two nights ago, she did it again – except this time I was in the bed and she urinated on me! So, I have basically kicked her out of my room now, which made me sad, but when you wake up at 2 am with cat pee on you, it can be quite frustrating! So, I took her to the vet today so I could make sure there was nothing physically wrong with her. The vet could see she was stressed just by being there and when I went into the history of our recent move, baby coming soon, keeping Isis out of the baby’s room, etc. the vet was quite sure it was behavioral and not physical. Isis’ color was good, she was not dehydrated or anything. So, the vet prescribed her anti-anxiety meds and I got some super strength stuff to remove the pee odor from the bed (which I don’t smell, but I’m sure Isis can). I figured it would come to this. Isis is pretty much a high-stress cat anyway, and this probably is just sending her over the edge. Poor baby. :-(

Apt Pics and more

I have been enjoying the new place very much – hence no blogs lately :-) It’s so nice to come home and actually *like* your home. The new apt gets so much light and it is just so welcoming. I did take a few pictures, so if you’re interested, you can browse them. There are a couple of rooms that I did not include pictures of, but at least the baby’s room is there :-)

As for stitching, I have been working on Madonna of the Garden fairly consistently over the past several weeks. I am doing this as a gift, and I really enjoy working on it. Here is my latest progress as of early last night.

As for the pregnancy, I continue to feel really pregnant. Only a little more than one week til my due date. I am still working full-time, but my boss has allowed me to work a reduced schedule, so I work about 25-30 hours a week now. I read somewhere that women who continue to work tend to have their babies past their due date — we’ll see how that theory applies in my case. I have been having more increased Braxton-Hicks contractions which I always find exciting b/c i know the real thing is coming soon.

All Moved In

Thanks everyone for the comments! I am all moved in now and very happy. A couple of you asked for details, so here goes –

- the baby’s room is the room that is the smallest bedroom
- this floor plan is for a 2nd level apt and we’re on the first level, so we don’t have deck we have a patio and we don’t have a fireplace. I didn’t want the fireplace anyway, so I’m glad to have the extra wall space
- my stitching stuff will go in the baby’s room — most of it in the closet since it’s a walkin
- and i hope to get some pictures soon. perhaps within the next couple of days

but i hooked up the computer last night and unpacked the kitchen yesterday morning, so i pretty much have the essentials in place :-)

gotta get to work, but I’ll post again soon.

New Apartment!

We have a new apartment today! I went at lunch to go sign the lease and I am utterly excited. Official moving day is Saturday, so no stitching will be done by me until next week. However, for the past few days and over the weekend I did work on Madonna of the Garden. It will be awhile before I have an update pic though.

We are moving across town to a larger and more well-lit apartment. And, I am especially excited about the bay windows in the living room. Here’s the floor plan.

Baby Shower

My stitching friends thew a baby shower tonite! It was actually for two of us that are due , me October 5th and Kem on October 6th. It was so much FUN! It was incredible. I am so touched by all the ladies who got us stuff and it was all so cute :-) I was really touched by Melissa’s gift – she stitched In the Arms of an Angel for me and used my own color conversions.

I don’t have any pictures of the shower yet, but once she sends them I will post them. I can’t wait to show off all the great gifts we got, so stay tuned.

Update 9/3: And I have pictures! Melissa sent them to me last night and today. Here is the piece she stitched — there is some reflection that inteferes with the bottom of her dress, but I’ll take a nice clean picture later on.

And, if you want to see pics of the rest of the baby shower, you can look here.
