And my nephew is FINALLY here!!! My brother’s girlfriend delivered tdoay (if you didnt’ know, she had the same due date as me – October 5th.) My mother said maybe our babies thought that October 5th meant 5 days apart, as Kaleya is 5 days old today!
Check out the announcement I did for them. If you click on the picture that is on the page, it will lead you to more pictures. We are all so excited. I have not yet talked with my brother, but I’m sure they are all doing well. It’s funny, I look at their son and he reminds me of Kaleya – I think it’s the eyes. When I look at Kaleya, I see my mother’s eyes. Both my brother and I have our mother’s eyes, so he must have passed that along to his son. The baby has his mother’s nose though

you know, I feel like I’ve gotten so much done, yet gotten so little done! We have been home now a few days — we came home on Monday afternoon. Thanks to everyone for the great comments! I don’t have the time to answer back to each of you individually, but your thoughts are most certainly appreciated! I am going to print them all out for her keepsakes
So, here’s a picture of her on her first day home, and if you click on the pic, you can see a few more pics from this week — we went to the pediatrician’s office today!

But, all is definitely going well. We are just getting to know her and I am in awe everyday at her — she’s so precious! I can say that I don’t miss work just yet
, but already know that the time will come too soon to have to return. Everyone from work has been just wonderful though! We have had so much food brought over we can eat for a week!
I have managed to get a few stitches in over the past few days, so maybe next week I’ll have some progress to report. My father and stepmother are coming to town this weekend for a visit, so expect more pictures soon.

Well, not too long after that last update, I started feeling really intense pressure and was begging for more drugs
But, the change in position they did for me to get gravity to help her descend WORKED! I got checked at 4:30 and she was crowning. I pushed for about 10 minutes and at 4:41 am, Kaleya was born! So, here is our daughter, Kaleya Frances McClellan. If you click on the picture, it will link you to pics on her site. I will be updating it throughout the day, so check back!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I’m at the hospital now! I got here at about 7:30 this morning. I am hooked up to an IV, have received a small dose of Pitocin and am just waiting now (smile)
Kalonji will be here in about 2 hours or so, and all my work friends are making me quite comfortable! That’s the advantage of having your baby at the medical center where you work.
11:45am – my pitocin has been going for about 3 hours now and I am having contractions that I definitely can feel. and I may have to start my breathing soon. Kalonji just arrived too!
3:35 am- still no baby – this induction is taking awhile. I labored on my own earlier today from about 11:30-4pm. Then, the pain was really becoming unbearable. So, I started asking if I could get any relief. Got checked, was 4 cm dilated and they called the anesthesiologist for my epidural. It took them about 15 minutes to get it in, but it started working fast and it is great!!!! However, here I am almost 12 hours later and still only 7 cm dilated. The baby is not descending. My water was broken for me at about 11pm. I have just changed into an upright position and therefore can use the laptop
(i am really a computer geek) so had to do an update. They are hoping to take advantage of gravity to get her to descend more, so we will see what happens. I am not in any pain though, so at least that much is good.
Not sure when I’ll post again, but maybe with the next update there will be a baby to report on…

Had my last midwife appt today, and everything looks like a go for Friday. I am almost 3cm dilated, I am 70% effaced, and the midwife said I am what they call “ripe” for induction. So, I’ll be going in on Friday and having a baby. I also have an ultrasound scheduled on Thursday afternoon, so maybe I will get more ultrasound pictures. Of course I’ll share if I do.
Stay tuned.. won’t be long before Kaleya is here.

It’s been awhile since I posted stitching progress — here is Madonna of the Garden as of today
I am almost getting jealous that i’m giving this away! this may be a contender for a restitch sometime in the future. At this point, I don’t have much actual stitching left — some metallic, some border work on the arch, and then the faces. Then, I can start the beads. It’s not looking like I’ll finish it before the baby is born, but it shouldn’t be too much longer.

Instead of going to my stitching group tonite, I went out to eat with my friend and her family. Today is her daughter-in-law’s birthday and we had dinner at a Japanese restaurant here in Nashville. This is my coworker who has moved in with me to be with me since Kalonji is unable to during the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy and she’s informed me that I am not to leave her side!
So, I went out with her and her family tonite. I’m so glad they invited me along and the food was great!
Still no baby for me yet, nor for my brother. However, apparently his girlfriend is in the hospital right now being monitored. I don’t know much more, but we will see what happens. Meanwhile, since they were not going to, I did an online announcement template for them too! I think I would feel bad emailing all the family about my daughter’s birth without him doing the same since we’re having babies at practically the same time. So, since he’s not the type to be inclined to do it, I decided to do it for him! Here is the template I made for their announcement. I still have a few more details to get from them, but I also plan to make them a whole page for the baby.
Not much else to report. I still feel great and just anxious to meet Kaleya. I’m so excited for Erin who had her baby today! She and I were “due date sisters” so it’s neat that her son is here. Can’t wait to see a picture.

And, no baby yet
So, the day is almost over and there is no baby here yet . Neither is my brother’s baby here yet either. Now it will really feel like a waiting game as this date has been in my mind for months now! Just think, in less than two weeks for sure, our kids will be born.
In preparation, last night I started her webpage. It took me awhile to find a background that I liked and one that would go with our whole “jungle” theme, but I am very happy with what I did choose. So far, the page is just very basic, but I look forward to developing it further over the next few weeks. My next task is to do the “About Me” page for her. You can see the website at www.taneya-kalonji.com/kaleya to see what it looks like right now.
And, then, as I was working on the page, I resolved my indecision on the birth announcement – I’ll be doing it myself! I designed a page to function as an announcment that I will email out to everyone once I get a picture of her up on the webpage and her birth details. Then, I’ll send someone out to Kinko’s to print out physical ones for those people that I’ll send it to via mail. I am very excited and it’s perfect b/c it will match the website! Here is the announcement template — of course, there is no picture and no birth details
— Kaleya’s Birth Announcement Template
Now I am thinking I need to develop a page for my brother’s child too. I would feel really bad doing all this for mine and not his when we’re both due to have our kids right about now! So, I am off to give him a call to see if he at least would like me to do a birth announcement.
Oh, and I’m still stitching on Madonna of the Garden. I am getting close to finishing her, so if I don’t have this baby before the 15th, I just might get a chance to finish this thing before the baby is born.

My induction date has been scheduled – October 15th at 7:30am. So, if she doesn’t come before then, she’ll be here that day for sure!
Update: Just got an email from my midwife explaining that my induction would only go forth on the 15th if she felt my cervix was ready to go. So, if it isn’t ready by then, she may push the date back a three or four more days as inducing me before my cervix was ready would be setting me up for a C-section. Hmm.. i hope i have this baby before i need to get induced!
Tomorrow is my due date and other than feeling very tired all the time, I have no other signs that anything is going to happen anytime soon. I guess that is how it goes though huh? yesterday, and so far today, I have just been really, really tired, despite getting at least 10 hours of sleep a night. Perhaps my body is trying to conserve energy for the big day.
My coworker’s daughter-in-law is letting me borrow a bassinet to use for Kaleya. You can see a pic of it here.
I have also been thinking a lot about baby announcments. I still haven’t figured out what I’m going to do yet – should i just order them from somewhere or should I try and do them myself? Who knows.. but I don’t have much time left to decide. So, if anyone has any recommendations for a good online site let me know!

Well, it was a false alarm with my brother’s baby — i forgot to post that yesterday. His girlfriend got to the hospital and it turned out that her water had not broken and so they sent her home. So far, no more word and it’s now Sat morning.
I myself had another Braxton Hicks contraction this morning, but nothing else yet. Only 4 more days to go til my due date now
