MY COUSIN GOT DRAFTED TO THE NEW YORK KNICKS LAST NIGHT!!! — okay, so i’m exaggerating the situation, but I am still proud. :-) My stepmother’s cousin got drafted to the New York Knicks last night – Channing Frye (you can watch the video clip on the Knick’s home page.) He was #8 pick, round 1 draft!! I am very happy for her family today. I don’t even know Channing, never even talked to him, but I know everyone in the family is very proud of him and I’m happy for him to. :-) The family reunion is in two weeks, so if he is there, I will make a point to congratulate him.

In other news, I am very wrapped up in life these days. I don’t expect things to settle until after the move (about one more month), so bear with me….

My nephew Alijzah is 8 months old today! I will finally get to meet him next week when my brother comes to visit me. I am going to take so many pictures when they come — I am looking forward to him and Kaleya getting together :-)

An Interview for xsmagdb

Posted by taneya on June 15, 2005 under Cross-Stitch | 2 Comments to Read

Guess what? This weekend, I was interviewed by a stitching magazine that wants to do a feature on my Cross-Stitch Magazine Database site! At this point, I’m not going to say which one b/c I want to see if it actually makes it to print, but I was rather tickled to even be approached about it! I will of course post again if that all pans out.

In all other realms of life all is going well. Work is as usual keeping me busy and of course miss kaleya is keeping me busy. We are getting prepared for the move to Memphis so I am now in the process of getting rid of junk! I have started reading FlyLady b/c I want to maintain a neat household for us given that I have an opportunity for a fresh start.

I went to my LNS tonite for stitch night. I haven’t been in at least two months I think so it was nice to finally get a chance to go. It was a quiet night and there were about 8 of us there. Kaleya even let me stitch a little bit as she played happily on the floor as well as being entertained by the framer :-)

I promise I will get around to posting a picture of my latest start — I just haven’t yet taken a picture. I started a design by Joan Elliott’s Cross Stitch: Sentiments & Sayings. It is a Celtic design with a saying and the border is fabulous. I am a very big fan of Joan Elliott’s. I have stitched two of her geisha’s with a third one as a WIP. I have a friend that is a model stitcher for her, so I love hearing about the new designs coming up and always anticipate her new releases. I think what I admire about Joan is all the background research that she does and how she creates designs that truly reflect reality. She’s wonderful!

Happy Birthday Rashid!!

Today is my brother’s 27th birthday! Unfortunately, I cannot verbally wish him a happy birthday b/c he is overseas right now in Aghanistan on a contract job with the military. Scary stuff, but I know he will come home safe and sound. He is actually due for a visit in a few weeks and I hope I get to see him while is back.

this is a picture of him, Tanesha, Alizjah and Izjan from December

I have stitching news! I got an impulse late Friday night to start a new project. So, despite having 30 WIPs I of course had to give into the impulse. I will post a pic of that later…

For now, here is a picture of Kaleya. Her daycare closed last week and today was her first day with her new sitter, one of the ladies who worked at her daycare. I am so happy with the situation as I think this is going to be great for Kaleya. This morning I took some pictures of her b/c I realized it had been more than a week since I took one. Here she is in all her reflective glory. I really think she looks older than 7 months and it freaks me out sometimes :-)
