I had a GLORIOUS Thanksgiving! Not only did Kalonji make a wonderful dinner (with baked macaroni and cheese made just for me) but I got so much stitching in I couldn’t be a happier camper!
I stitched away on Feline Navidad. At this point, for the most part I now have only left stitches that use specialty threads that I don’t yet have (will get them this weekend). This is a fun project to stitch for me b/c of the colors. Shame I’m giving it away…
In Kaleya news, she has been so much fun these days. She dances up a storm whenever music is playing; we’ve discovered a great show — The Backyardigans (i love it!); the cats continue to be her playmates; and she has even learned a new word —- “Cat!” Now, almost everything is a cat, but she can say it quite clearly and point to any of the cats and say it
. That bring her total vocab up to four words now – “bye-bye,” “da-da”, “ma-ma” and “cat.”

Here is a major stitching update- I’m so excited. So, this weekend, I started pondering what I would stitch as Christmas gifts. I know that there are several people that I want to stitch ornaments for, so I began searching through my magazines. Now, given that I have the database, I used that first, and let me tell you, it made it so much easier! I am so happy I am doing this with my magazine issues. However, I have a few hundred more issues that I don’t have indexed yet, so those I went through by hand.
And, though I have not decided on everything yet, I did decide on a couple of ornaments. Then, I also decided I would stitch these:
- A Name Above Every Name — Kalonji has a coworker who is very religious and when I first saw this design, I thought it was excellent! However, I am not that personally religious (though I love religion as a subject – have a degree in it)I knew that if I ever had a chance to stitch it, it would be for someone else. This stitches quickly and I should have if done within a couple of weeks.
- Feline Navidad (link deleted 11/28) – this is also going to be a gift. the person I am stitching it for sometimes reads my blog, so i’m going to hope she does not happen to read it within the next few weeks – this is perfect for her
I plan to alternate working on these two each day until the end of the weekend.

We went to the Memphis Zoo today – it was quite interesting and I think we are glad that we went — now we can say “been there, done that”
. It was Kaleya’s first trip to a zoo and I think she liked seeing the animals. She kept pointing at them. The zoo has an Egyptian theme going and that was neat, especially in light of our Egyptian kick these days. As for myself, I had never seen a Panda Bear before, so that made it worth it – also, I had never seen a kimodo dragon either!
Of course we have pictures, so you can check them out if you like. I also have a few video clips that I took as well. My favorite is this one of one of the baboon’s – and, I also liked this on of a purple tang fish — Dory in Finding Nemo was a purple tang, so I had to film that!
