I feel like I am getting back into my stitching “zen”! The night I finished the African Welcome design, I started another one from Stoney Creek Magazine. This one is called African Influence and is from the Feb 2005 issue. This is my progress so far.

In Kaleya news — we think we will start trying to potty train her this weekend! The babysitter agrees that she appears to be ready. We’ve been experimenting with pull-ups with her for the past week now – she knows how to pull them off – I’m not sure that she really knows to do it in response to being wet. But, I guess we will start by showing her the motions and go slowly :-) Next month she’ll be 18 months!

We also rejoined Netflix last week so we could watch some of the TV Shows we are interested in. We are starting with 24 as we just got into it this season. So far, we’ve watched the first four episodes of Season 1 and they are just as exciting as the season currently on! It will be fun to get through them.

Just when I finally have a stitching update and was all ready to upload it to my photo gallery pages, I discover that it seems my photo gallery is no longer THERE!! I have written to my webhost provider to see if they can tell me why I can no longer access this subdirectory and it seems as if all my pictures are gone.. I am going to be SICK if I have to rebuild that portion of my site – absolutely sick! I’m fairly sure that I still have all my cross-stitching pictures saved on CD, but just to think of having to go through the process of creating all the albums over again…. (keep your fingers crossed for me).

?

However, here is my stitching update anyway. A few weeks ago I started a design that I found in the Feb 2006 issue of Stoney Creek Magazine. I loved the colors and it looked like it would be a quick stitch and it truly was. I finished it last night!

I then had to start on another design similar to it that was in the Feb 2005 issue. More to come on that later :-)

Update – 9pm — whew! my photo album part of my site is back. Just some temporary issues on the server. And, I forgot to post that I won off of the Bay of Evil two back issues of Cross Stitch Gold – the first issue and issue number 3! I am trying to fill in my gaps in the collection with this magazine. There are about 8 issues that I am lacking. These tend to get a little pricey though on Ebay, so I’ll probably just get a couple per month. I love the Sioux Chief in Issue 3! This design also appears in a book that I have but seeing it here too has convinced me I need to stitch him one day.

I posted this on my genealogy blog, but I need to post it here too… this is in memorium to my Uncle June.

Abraham Lincoln McNair, Jr. (December 1, 1932 – February 9, 2006)

My family found out today that we have lost a family member – one of my grandmother’s brothers – Abraham Lincoln McNair, Jr. Uncle June had been out of touch with the family for years. We knew that he was living in the New York area but had not been able to find him. In part inspired by my recent activities in researching the family, my mother began to look for him again in earnest. Well, we found out we were about a month too late. The police department in the area that we had a last known address for him informed us that he died on February 9th.

I have only one memory of Uncle June from when I was about 8 years old or so and we were visiting my grandmother. He was prone to seizures and while we were visiting her, he had a seizure in the living room. My mother was particularly close to Uncle June and has told me many stories about him. We are devastated to think that he died alone in the hospital with no family around, but I understand that is how he lived his life. My grandmother does not know and we probably will not tell her. She has Alzheimer’s and is in a home and this is now her third brother to pass (of four). This is why it is so important to know about family. If we had not continued to search for him, we may have never known what happened.

I’m feeling overwhelmed. I’m feeling overwhelmed because there are so many things that I want to do and I have not enough time to do them! My genealogy activities are starting to stabalize some — I’ve realized that I can’t do it all like right now! :-) I continue to find out some great things though about my family and I am collecting wonderful stories.

I am starting to direct some of my time to the cross stitch magazine database again. I added an issue this week and I have several more that I am hoping to get in within the next week or so. In the past few months I’ve acquired about 20 new magazines so I really want to get these in! Just yesterday I picked up New Stitches and the “new” Cross Stitch & Needlework.

I have also started yet another project and will be starting another one within the week or so — i think i have a problem. But the one I just started is not big and shouldn’t take too long. One day I’ll get pictures up.

Kaleya is doing very well. She was sick this week and it was a rough week, but she is much better now. We had a “photo shoot” yesterday and this is one of the pictures I took.

So, until later….
