We are one day closer to the move. Today the moving company came and boxed up our belongings. Took them hours. Again, despite how much JUNK it seems I get rid of with each move, more seems to accumulate! I initially thought they were going to actually load it up on a truck and take it away today, but not to be — that happens tomorrow. So, tomorrow morning, this house will be so empty! Then, I’ll spend tomorrow night and Saturday cleaning. The joys of moving!
I should have in fact been doing more of that tonite, but my scrapping got the best of me. You can check out my digiscrap blog to see what I’ve been up to there. I think the cats know that something is up too..they’ve been acting funny all night.
Speaking of up, I must go down. It’s 1am and I still have to take this computer down so the movers can take this table out tomorrow. I’ll be using the computer on the floor for the next couple of days. Goodnight!

Our move is on! We move on Sunday, Oct 1st into a duplex in Nashville. I am so excited! I have been trying to straighten up and get rid of things. I’ll be donating quite a bit as well. The duplex is smaller than where we are, so I plan to just buy what we need when we move. The location is great too – right in the thick of things and only three miles from my job. Ah yes, the job… I have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work from home for the past year and be here with Kaleya. However, I am looking forward to going back in the library each day and having that interaction with my co-workers again. Fortunately, Kalonji will now be able to stay home with Kaleya for a little while as he finishes his degree. Then, eventually we will get her back in a daycare/school of some type.
I also having a stitching update. Here is my progress on my Nez Perce woman. I haven’t stitched a lot, but when I do, I work on her.

And, while I was hoping not to do this, I think I may need to create a separate blog for my scrapbooking after all. The librarian in me is demanding the compartmentalization of topics
So, stay tuned for that sometime in the near future. I will also be merging our website with my blog. Those will probably be the first two things I do after the move. I will still keep this blog more oriented towards family updates and my stitching, but I do have details that I’d love to share for others that digiscrap that may not be as appealing to others who read my main blog. So, we’ll see! (On a related note – I have made a few updates recently to my genealogy blog if you care to look).
But now, I am off to do laundry! I think after this time, I will only have to go once more before the move. Then, I plan to come back home and digiscrap some more.

I am so in trouble — this digital scrapbooking is getting the best of me. Guess how many pages I did this weekend — TEN! And, over the past week, despite the megabytes of freebies I have downloaded, I think I have spent about $20 on various scrap sites. But, the packaging is too convenient. It’s very difficult to pass up getting a kit for $4 or so, the problem is that the $4 adds up quickly.
However, I am very satisfied with my progress so far. Most of the pages I did are for the book I am putting together to document Kaleya’s arrival and first year. So, I did pages to highlight the ultrasound, my stomach at 34 weeks, three pages on the baby shower and a page on going to the hospital. You can see those here – the first six pages.
I also did a page for a friend of my sister’s. He has a young baby boy and Kelli found a page in a gallery that she thought was perfect for him, so I scraplifted it. This is for William.
Then, the other pages I did were of some pictures I took over the weekend of Kaleya. One of her playing with her LeapFrog laptop and these are the other two I did. Precious!

I have discovered another fun activity – painting! I repainted a wall in our house as we are getting prepped to move and I want the place to be in great condition – and I actually like it! I have never painted before, but I can see myself getting into it! I plan to repaint the whole kitchen on Saturday.
I also rented a Rug Doctor to clean the carpets – OMG – I couldn’t believe how much DIRT it got out!! Who knew carpets could be so filthy. I’m glad I did it and not a professional service – I would have been so embarrassed. I do plan to have a professional service come in after all the furniture is moved out, but at least it won’t be *so* bad then.
Haven’t done much stitching lately. Been scrapbooking and doing genealogy instead. Since the first challenge I did below, I have done four more challenges. Over at DigiScrapShak.com, if you complete 4 challenges in the month of September, you get kit freebie. Hello! I just posted my four challenges over there. Can’t wait to get the kit.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted specifically about Kaleya and how she is developing. Guess it goes to show she is no longer a baby huh? At 22 months, she is as grown as she can be! Her vocab continues to accelerate and she has recently started singing. She can tell us when she is wet and then asks to go to the potty. We just next have to work on getting her to ask to go to the potty BEFORE she gets wet. Yesterday, she did a first. I talk to my sister Kelli on the phone like every day, so I often have Kaleya get on the phone and try to get her to say “Kelli” – which she does every so often. I had a feeling that she knew that Kelli was the “girl that came to visit us this summer” but she confirmed that for me. I was doing a scrapbook page of one of Kelli’s pictures and Kaleya points to the screen and says “A Kelli.” I didn’t catch it at first, but she did it again – I was so tickled. Can’t wait to see what the next few months bring.
The scrapbook page I was doing is this one.
I did this page in response to my very first online challenge. By using the kit provided and posting it, the designer will send a link to a free kit – two kits for the price of one! It was fun – I’ll have to participate in more of them. The wording on the page is an excerpt from a Lord Byron poem.
I have a new link on my blog sidebar. I used Rollyo to create my very own DigiScrap Search Engine. The concept is this — make a list of sites of interest (up to 25) and you can search across all at once. I figured with all the scrapbooking sites and all the kits they have, this would be a good way to help find kits of a particular interest. I just tested it by doing a search on “egyptian” and one of the results was this striking kit that I must now download so I can do a page for my cats.
Believe it or not, I also continue to do a little stitching. I’ll be stitching later on tonite as we watch Bill Mahr and whatever else we decide to watch after that goes off. Ta ta for now…
