Experimenting With Second Life

Posted by taneya on September 25, 2007 under Work | 3 Comments to Read

I finally signed up for Second Life yesterday. Though I’ve been reading about Second Life for more than a year now, I had not yet explored it. So, in order to learn more I signed up. It is very interesting.

My avatar it Taneya Kumaki and I’m still learning how to do things like change appearance, even move around properly. I still have not yet learned how to fly. I took a visit to some of the health/medical locations that I knew of as a beginning.

I visited the HealthInfo Island Consumer Medical Library and the Medical Library on the same island. I also visited the Ann Myers Medical Center. I am eager to learn how to build areas next, but overall, my couple of hours of experimentation last night was productive!

Happy Birthday Miles!

Sept 24 is Miles’ birthday. He turns 11. We went up to visit the boys this weekend to help celebrate his birthday. Kaleya understood that it was his birthday too. We had a taco party and had a fun time. I’m so tired now and cannot wait to go to bed. Kaleya’s birthday is next and then Kalonji is done with his kids’ birthdays for the year :-)

The cake was Spiderman and we think he enjoyed himself. More pictures can be found here.

Moving Progress

We’re mostly moved! today we had the cable and internet installed (wireless baby!) and I’m ecstatic! I could easily get distracted going online and not put things away like I need to :-)

While I was waiting for Comcast to arrive, I watched the beginning of a series of lectures on DVD that my supervisor ordered for us as professional development. The series is called Change & Motion: Calculus Made Clear. I watched three lectures and they are wonderful! This professor is aiming to make calculus understandable in plain English terms and it is highly interesting to watch. I hardly remember Calculus being this interesting when I took it in college.

We’re MOVING!

Haven’t posted in a couple of weeks, but I’m still here. We are preparing to move to one of the suburbs of Nashville, so have been busy with that. We are so excited! I’ll take some pictures this weekend and share more. We are going to go over and do some painting.
