• Notes

  The McNair Family Reunion information has her last name as Wimbly, but it was Wimberly. There were slaveowners in Edgecombe County named Wimberly - there are lots of Wimberlys in Edgecombe County in 1870 census. In fact, Rufus & Maria live right next to a Wimberly. Also, the 1966 acknowledgements of marriages among freed persons of color has her last name as Wimberly. Born: 1900 census has May 1849, and grave has 4 Aug 1841, but 1870 and 1880 census records suggest an approximate birth year of 1843. Died: Died prior to 1910 as husband Rufus is a widow in the 1910 census.
