Bishop's Daughter Dies Suddenly
Three doctors fail in heroic effort to prolong young woman's life

Miss Anna Alberta Tyree, age 36, Nashville, Tenn., came to this city with her mother, Mrs. Ellen Tyree, wife of Bishop Evans Tyree ans another daughter, Mrs. Carrie B. Russell, to spend two weeks visiting. A reception was given them on Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Mitchem, 3625 Prarie avenue. About 8pm, Miss Tyree took suddenly ill and died between 12 and 1 o'clock the same evening. Her death was a shock to the citizens of Chicago and Nashville. As soon as she took ill, her mother had Mrs. Mitchem call Dr. U.G. Dalley, Dr. Burrows and Dr. Giles. These physicians remained at her bedside from the time they arrived until she passed away. They made a heroic effort to prolong her life. Even a mother and sister's love could do no good.

Miss Tyree was operated on about a year ago for appendicitis at Nashville, Tenn. She survived the operation but ofttimes had pains and misery. An inquest was held Tuesday morning at Charles Jackson's undertaking establishment. Mrs. Tyree stated that her daughter had been in ill health ever since the operation. She and the daughter broke down with grief as the story was told to Coroner Thumm. A verdict was rendered death due to organic heart trouble superinduced by a phibriod tumor. The coroner's examination showed no evidence of wounds on the body, stomach and other parts in good condition - the appendix being abnormal.

Bishop Tyree was here a few weeks ago and went home. Upon his return he sent his wife and two daughters to make a visit to the "Windy City." Mrs. Mitchem and members of Institutional church were making it pleasant for them. The reception was attended Sunday by a large number of popular citizens.

Miss Tyree was a proofreader at the A.M.E. Zion Publishing House, Nashville, Tenn. She is survived by a father and mother, Bishop and Mrs. Evans Tyree, Mrs. Eugene Allen and Mrs. Carrie Russell, sisters; Herman F. Tyree, minister in Texas and Evans Tyree, Jr., this city. The body was moved home Wednesday.
