Today, I worked on my first art project. I drew a landscape. My mom wants to hang it up in her office at work.
The assessment questions were funny – did you draw a landscape? yes or no?

Well, we’ve taken a hiatus from the blog, but with Jihad starting Tennessee Virtual Academy this year, it makes a perfect opportunity to start blogging again!
It’s Thursday night at the time of this post and we’ve had a busy start to his 7th grade year. This is our first full week with TNVA and I am thoroughly impressed.
Course materials arrived on Monday.

On Tuesday we received his first teacher assignments and really began his work in earnest. Kalonji is his primary Learning Coach to see him through his daily work; I pitch in for math in the evenings after I get home from work.
We are excited about this and already I see the joy and benefit of interacting directly with him as he works through his assignments. To be so intimately involved and part of his learning is amazing. Almost makes me want to start Kaleya in k12 next year for her 2nd grade year. hmm….
My word of the day — Unacceptable
The word “unacceptable” means – not good enough
My sentence – “Kaleya made an unacceptable comment to me.”
My word of the day — Facetious
The word facetious means “not taken to be seriously.”
Here is my sentence: Nisa made a facetious comment to me.
Last night, Kaleya & I went to a pool party for Jackson’s 5th birthday. Taneya works with his grandmom. At the party, we had pizza, cake & ice cream. I loved playing in the pool!

For school this quarter, I had an assignment to make a map. The sky was the limit! So, I had a great idea to do a map made of macaroni. Taneya helped me cut out the continents using construction paper. Kaleya helped me paint the macaroni different colors. Then, I glued the macaroni to the paper and labeled the map with the continent names and the equator and the prime meridian. We forgot to label the oceans so I got a B, but the teacher thought it was a beautiful project! You can click on the picture to see a bigger version.
