Tonight, my fellow genealogy blogger, Randy Seaver, posts a fun Saturday night challenge for genealogy databases – to share our latest database statistics. I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to check up on where things stand with the Koonce Surname Project genealogy database I’ve been working on over the years.
I currently manage the database in 3 places – my personal website using a software program called TNG: The Next Generation of Genealogy Site-building, RootsMagic, FamilySearch Family Tree, and as of today, Ancestry Member Trees. If you’re curious as to why I manage it in so many places, check out one of my recent blog posts on my genealogy blog.
I won’t go into all the numbers, but using RootsMagic, I calculated that I have close to 4,000 individuals representing more than 1,100 families. And, I have more than 6,000 citations.
I am not yet able to calculate the total number of pictures & documents I have, but I will work towards being able to have a count by next year. Of course, this database would not be where it is without the many interactions I’ve had with Koonce family members over the years. I hope to continue to grow
